UP Minimum Wage Revision: Important Interim Relief Update for Employers by SGC Services

The Uttar Pradesh Labour Department has issued a critical update regarding the state’s wage structure. In a move to provide immediate support to the workforce, the Uttar Pradesh Shasan Shram Anubhag-2 announced a revised schedule for minimum wages effective retroactively from April 1, 2026.

This latest notification, dated April 17, 2026, acts as an interim relief measure. Crucially, this order supersedes the previous instructions issued on March 25, 2026. For businesses operating within the state, this means payroll calculations for the current month must be adjusted immediately to remain compliant with the new statutory mandates.

The revision applies across all sectors and regions within Uttar Pradesh, ensuring a uniform baseline for worker compensation during this interim period.

Wage Categories: The state is divided into three zones based on location and cost of living:

• Category I: Gautam Buddha Nagar & Ghaziabad.
• Category II: Other Nagar Nigam areas.
• Category III: Remaining districts.
