India Revises Central Minimum Wages (VDA) Effective October 1, 2026 – Key Updates for Businesses | SGC Services

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, has officially revised the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for scheduled employments under the Central Sphere. Issued by the Labour Bureau (File No. 6/1/2026-VDA), this critical mandate takes effect retroactively from October 1, 2026.

For more details please find attached Central minimum wages notification for your reference.

The adjustment is driven by a 6.62-point surge in the average Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW), which climbed from 424.80 to 431.42. Failing to realign salary structures with these updated floors risks significant regulatory penalties and statutory non-compliance.
