The Government of Chhattisgarh published the Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Amendment) Act, 2025 as Act No. 11 of 2026 in the Official Gazette on July 8, 2026. This amendment updates worker thresholds, working hours, overtime caps, and provisions for women working night shifts.
- Registration Applicability Threshold: Raised from establishments employing 10 or more workers to 20 or more workers.
- Women in Night Shifts: Permits women to work between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM, subject to safety and operational conditions notified by the state government.
- Daily Working Hours: Increased from a maximum of 9 hours to 10 hours.
- Spread-Over Limit: Expanded from 10.5 hours to 12 hours daily.
- Overtime Limits: Raised the annual/quarterly overtime cap (increasing annual limits to 144 hours).
